it was a great trip, but i was happy to be back in korea...

on my way back, i even got to be tested for swine flu...this was right when it was beginning to be a big deal...we had to have our temperatures taken at the airport and had to fill out a form with our information, then walk through a thermal imaging thing...they even called me a couple weeks later to ask if i was ok...how considerate! my work was even taking people's temperatures to make sure that none of us were getting sick...haha...we're all fine!

it was very strange for me to be back there. the minute i got on the plane to go back to america, i immediately wanted to get back off and stay in korea. it was really strange for me to be around a bunch of foreigners, and the way they acted was thoroughly obnoxious. i sat down (the middle of the front row) and i was trying to put my stuff under the seat when the guy behind me was like, "you can't have that space! you've got all that space up there!" oh, my bad, i didn't know his feet were under my seat and that's what was obstructing my stuff. so, being the person i am, was like, "hey, i'm sorry about that." then he's like, "we can trade places if you want and you can sit in the middle with no leg room." since i'm awkward and haven't actually talked to some random person in english for a long time, "no, i'm pretty sure you've got the worst seat in the house" sort of came out of my mouth. well, this guy was pretty shocked and i think angry that i said that....he snorted and mumbled something under his breath...oops, i thought we were having fun. >_< well, about two minutes after that, a family comes along. somehow all of their seats surround him...i was thoroughly amused at this point. they have a baby and two small children. the loudly says, "i don't know what i did to deserve this!!!" being geniuses that they are, he sat on the outside, rather than in the middle...but i still believe it was rude as hell to say that. my seat was between a larger man and a korean. i spent most of my time awake and leaning towards the korean guy because the other guy seemed to need to put a pillow between us...it was the most uncomfortable ride EVER. but the next two flights were fine, and so were the flights coming back...

back to my point. i had forgotten how rude americans are. it's bad. and maybe it's because i'm from iowa where random people wave to you or compliment you and these people weren't iowans...but i'm pretty sure that it's most americans. when i'm in korea, i don't understand everything that goes on around me and i can't understand everything that people say, and maybe that's why i feel like compared to koreans, americans are rude. sometimes i hear the snide comments on the subway about the foreigners being too loud (nevermind the screaming koreans..it's always those damn foreigners), but i chalk that up to ignorance or them not being able to tell us to be quiet. it's perfectly acceptable to do that here..."hey dude! shut up! people are sleeping!!!" in america, that wouldn't fly. "you tellin me to shut up?? man, i have a constitutional right to talk whenever and wherever i want to!" we're always using the constitution to defend something, eh?

well, enough about that...i gave parker away (the cat)...my apartment was too small and he couldn't run around and do what he wanted to and therefore, he kept me up all night. i found a foreigner/korean couple who had another cat and gave parker to them...i think he's better off.

since the last time i wrote, i have been to:

mudfest (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boryeong_Mud_Festival)..a bunch of people getting together and playing in the mud! wOOt. we rode elephants, it POURED for two days...it was raining so hard it HURT..and all of our umbrellas broke...hahaha..
